Chief Designer: Juan Manuel Diaz Exterior Designer: Michele Leonello / Team Centro Stile Alfa Romeo

The Alfa Romeo MiTo project at Centro Stile Alfa Romeo represented one of the brand’s most ambitious exercises in compact-segment identity during the mid-2000s. The design team worked to translate Alfa Romeo’s performance-driven heritage into a smaller, more urban form without compromising the emotional language of the marque. The exterior design development, led by SIGNUM Stile founder Michele Leonello, involved defining and sculpting a modern interpretation of Alfa Romeo’s classical design language, it´s Scudetto and Trilobo down-the-road graphic, and integrating graphic elements that referenced iconic models like the 8C Competizione.
Working at the epicentre of the brand’s design culture, Michele and his team explored a new design language with a strong focus on proportions, sculptural volumes, and classically correct graphics to achieve a balance between youthful energy and unmistakable Alfa Romeo presence. The resulting vehicle became a statement of modern Italian design—compact yet expressive, functional yet bold. This project stands as a testament to a period of intense innovation within Alfa Romeo, where form and emotion were pushed into a new segment with clarity and confidence.
